Subclass 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme)

This visa has two streams: Direct Entry and Transitional Stream

Direct Entry:

  • If applying under the Direct Stream, applicants are required to obtain a positive skills assessment and demonstrate to have worked in the nominated occupation for at least 3 years.
  • The English requirement for this visa is 6 in each of the IELTS components.
  • Applicants are required to be under 45 at the time of application (limited exceptions might apply).
  • The sponsored position must be included in MTSSL list. You can find the complete list here.
  • Sponsors must satisfy the Skilling Australia Fun (SAF) levy. If the company turnover is $10 million, it will be applied a fee each year of $1,800 for TSS candidates or $5,000 for the PR; if the turnover is less than $10 million, the fee required is respectively $1,200 or $3,000, payable when lodging the nomination.

Transitonal Scheme:
• applicants must demonstrate to have worked 3 years as 482 Visa holders for the same employers who is nominating them for the 186 Visa.
• The English requirement for this visa is 6 in each of the IELTS components.
• Applicants are required to be under 45 at the time of application (limited exceptions might apply).
• If applicants have hold or granted a 457 visa before or after the 18th of April 2017, they can still be eligible for the PR by demonstrating two years of experience with the same sponsor, achieving 6 in all IELTS parts, earning the 457-nomination letter salary, and being under 50 years old (if before) and 45 years old (if after).
• Sponsors must satisfy the Skilling Australia Fun (SAF) levy. If the company turnover is $10 million, it will be applied a fee each year of $1,800 for TSS candidates or $5,000 for the PR; if the turnover is less than $10 million, the fee required is respectively $1,200 or $3,000, payable when lodging the nomination.

Subclass 187 (Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme)

This visa has two streams: Direct Entry and Transitional Stream

Direct Entry:

  • Applicants are required to obtain a positive skills assessment and demonstrate to have worked in the nominated occupation for at least 3 years.
  • The English requirement for this visa is 6 in each of the IELTS components.
  • Applicants are required to be under 45 at the time of application (limited exceptions might apply)
  • The sponsored position must be in a regional area and present on the ROL list
  • Applicants have to be paid at least $53,900 + superannuation.
  • Sponsors must certify the position with a Regional Certified Body.
  • Sponsors must satisfy the Skilling Australia Fun (SAF) levy. If the company turnover is $10 million, it will be applied a fee each year of $1,800 for TSS candidates or $5,000 for the PR; if the turnover is less than $10 million, the fee required is respectively $1,200 or $3,000, payable when lodging the nomination.

It is important to understand that your job location needs to be in a regional area. Otherwise, you will not be eligible for this visa, regardless you have the right skills.
